Welcome to
New Country School's
Early Childhood Program

We believe that each child at this stage of learning will develop different skills at their own pace as they move toward a more academically structured Elementary Program.

The Early Childhood class spends time doing multi-age activities, but also separates for more focused time on Kindergarten lessons. 

New Country School Kindergarten curriculum prepares children for our Elementary Program, where they can continue their learning at a level that is consistent with their developmental needs.  NCS Kindergartners are also well prepared to integrate into other elementary programs.

You can often find us exploring art materials, creating "little masterpieces," or you might find us playing
dress-up or make-believe! 
We are always learning something new about the world around us as we go on lots of great fieldtrips.

We explore, we experiment and most importantly, we play!

Our day is full of hands-on activities that allow us many opportunities to learn and discover.  Learning centers are always set up for exploration and creative play.  We have a dramatic play room that changes monthly... sometimes it's a camping room, sometimes its a restaurant or a theater, other times it might just be the "dress up" room or a veterinarian's office!  The options are endless!

We also are blooming little readers and writers, and are often found enjoying a story, or writing and illustrating our own.  We love to use our imaginations in our stories and artwork.

We enjoy time using our classroom computer using learning software and "Living Books" Cd-Roms.

Music is also an important part of our day as we enjoy creative movement, singing, and learning about styles and concepts of music.

It’s not unusual to hear lots of little voices singing a lot in our room, and we hope you will stop by and visit us!
