Title of Workshop: "Shamanic Journey Work"
Description: Shamanism is the age-old practice of traveling in
spirit form to other realms of reality, meeting allies, power animals
and teachers there, and working spiritually to foster well-being for
self, others and the planet. Sue
will guide participants through several shamanic journeys, and we will
share whatever insights we gain from our journeys.
The percussive beat of drumming will assist the participants on
their journeys. Not
everyone is able to journey on his or her first try, but this workshop
may open up a whole new meditative experience.
Sue began her training right here in Hiram, with a wonderful teacher who
resonated with the Native American tradition and used the principals of
Michael Harner’s “Core Shamanism”.
(Reference: “The Way of the Shaman” by Michael Harner).
She continued her training with Dr. Larry Peters whose emphasis
was on an ancient Tibetan belief system called Tamang.
In 2006, she traveled to Nepal to be initiated as a shaman by
Aama Bombo, a member of the Council of the Thirteen Indigenous
Grandmothers. Since then,
she has expanded her horizons with David Corbin and Nan Moss of the
Foundation for Shamanic Studies.
